Amtrak Unveils Increased Summer Schedule

Amtrak on Monday unveiled a summer schedule featuring the most Acela frequencies since the onset of the pandemic and total Northeast Regional departures that near 80 percent of pre-pandemic service levels. The increased service was “bolstered by a demand for both business and leisure travel,” according to Amtrak.

Effective immediately, the Northeast Regional service will include 13 weekday roundtrips between Washington, DC, and New York City, nine roundtrips on Saturdays and 14 roundtrips on Sundays. Between Boston and New York, service includes eight daily roundtrips Monday through Saturday and nine roundtrips on Sundays.

Effective May 23, Acela service between Washington, DC, and New York will include 10 weekday roundtrips, four Saturday roundtrips and six Sunday roundtrips. Between Boston and New York, Acela service will operate nine weekday roundtrips, three Saturday roundtrips and four Sunday roundtrips.

In addition, Keystone Service will expand between Harrisburg, Pa., and Philadelphia to 12 weekday roundtrips with 10 weekday roundtrips between Philadelphia and New York, including a new early morning departure scheduled to arrive in New York at 7:15 am Amtrak also is restoring its Hartford Line between New Haven, Conn., and Springfield, Mass., with seven weekday roundtrips.
