Zurich airport’s new Dock A to be “built largely from sustainable wood” – Business Traveller

Zurich airport has announced plans for what it says “will probably be the largest airport dock built largely of wood”.

The new Dock A will be constructed alongside the existing building, which has reached the end of its life cycle after over 35 years of operation.

The “Raumfachwerk” project will take ten years, with construction starting in 2030, and once completed the old Dock A will be dismantled.

The airport said that the new dock will “set new standards in terms of sustainable terminal buildings”, with architect Bjarke Ingels leading the project in cooperation with a number of other firms.
